The State of Illinois and Federal Government have declared a public health emergency as a result of the pandemic coronavirus. The circumstances change daily. There are calls by health officials to slow down personal contacts and maintain social distancing. However, with the Governor’s proclamation to “shelter at home,” I am officially closing the following buildings by means of public access until further notice:
- Vermilion County Administration Building – 201 N Vermilion Street, Danville
- Vermilion County Animal Control and Shelter – 14775 Catlin/Tilton Road, Tilton
- Vermilion County Highway Department – 2732 Batestown Road, Oakwood
- Vermilion County Coroner/Veterans Assistance Commission – 123 N. Hazel, Danville
Essential services will still be supported by appointment only. Essential services will be determined by the elected office holder or department head.

The Rita B. Garman Vermilion County Courthouse and the Vermilion County Health Department remain open to the public for essential needs.
